Daisy in the Pavement

This is for Ibu Wita. Her daughter Intan is the Director of Restaurant Erlangga, Ritz-Carlton Jakarta. On Friday 17/7, simultaneous suicide bombings happened in JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton.  Intan, who was on duty that morning, stepped into the back office to attend a customer’s complaint. A few minutes later, the bombing happened.

Intan is safe but many of her colleagues suffered devastating injuries and loss of limbs. The  twin bombings claimed 9 lives and injured 53.

Daisies are my favourite flower. I like its simplicity, its clean lines, its common-ness. It makes me think of wide open fields, of being free, of picnics in the late afternoon and sunshowers. Most of all, I like it for its strength and resilience; how it seeks out sunlight and survives even in the toughest of situations.

To Ibu Wita and all our friends in Jakarta, your beautiful country will survive. Its spirit will not be broken down. Our thoughts and prayers are with you always.

Thank you, Ijah, that was beautiful…
She is a strong girl, when everyone else ran away to the front door, she ran back to the resto, “How’s my staff, my guests?” that was what she had in mind while taking off her high heel shoes and ran along the gang to the resto but of course could not get in…

Thanks again for your prayer, yes we will survive.
