Today – a quick, planned but un-practiced 4-song gig at the Little Sisters of the Poor in Cheras to celebrate the Chinese New Year of the Ox with the residents. Needless to say I was a hit. Setlist: Top of the World (Carpenter), Umbrella (Rihanna), Baby One More Time (Britney Spears) and Kau Ilhamku (Man Bai).

My thanks to Chef Muluk for allowing me to drag his son Feerdaus (is that how to spell his name?) to play 2nd guitar without any hesitation whatsoever. I like working with boys. They have no preconceptions and take very easy to direction. Older ones tend to think they are rockstars.

We fumbled a bit but I told Feerdaus right from the start that even if we screw up some chords, just maintain a happy face and play on coz no one could tell the difference except for us. It was his first time playing in front of strangers.

Funny how I always end up with people who would whisper to me right before the show’s about to start that this would be their first ever public performance. While we were serving tea, I saw him talking to some of the residents and exchanging numbers? Well, he was writing something something on a notepad. Fans, maybe? Hehehe. And yes, we were asked if we can come again.
